OK my neighboring Ozarkans;

It's been a few years since my late grandmother unexpectedly ripped the blackberries out from the yard (they were really delicious).  We'll be replanting *something* or *somethings* in the rocky soil this spring to fill the space.

So... the question this week (or month?) is what would you plant in your backyard garden in the spring?  All ideas are welcome!

How about blueberries.  Takes 2 or 3 years for them to be producing, but they might like that rocky, well-drained soil.  You may like them so well you will want an acre of them!  As for me, I want to find a couple of roots of rhubarb this spring.  They require some soil prep with rich nutrients (as in 'from a horse stall') added, but there's nothing like strawberry/rhubarb pie - unless it's blueberry cheesecake.

It's Feb 23 and sitting in my carport are two 5' cherry trees, just waiting to be tucked securely into my orchard!!! I just love the excitement of spring. Right now frozen rain is bouncing across my back deck but pretty soon it will be loaded down with every colour of the rainbow...(hang on...I need to readjust my medications) Yes, pretty soon it will be loaded down with any and every type of growing thing imagineable. (the readjustment worked...my deck is brown again)
My vegetable garden is sitting on go, a quick till, some composting and we're in business. Tomatoes, green beans, bright red bell peppers, long stalks of corn and anything else I can sink into that soil is a go in my book. My asparagus and strawberries are still snuggled down until it's warm enough to come out but no worries with them and the fruit trees will be a sight to see. Yep, I'm excited
And don't get me started on my bee hives... (which are now in the making thanks to a wonderful talented man named Avery)
Ain't life full of grand fun?
